Alamo Heights man has built huge collection for Toilet Seat Museum
His collection is no Home Depot showroom. Tucked away on the 85-year-old's property in Alamo Heights is a tin-roofed garage filled, floor to ceiling, with — you guessed it — creatively crafted loo covers.All 780 of them.
The lines of lids, which Smith has been etching, painting and tweaking for 35 years, have attracted an international following, drawing in curious onlookers from as far away as Colombia and Iran.
He says that thanks to a U.S. Navy commander, he has a piece of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's toilet affixed to a seat.
Smith started the project when he was looking for a mount for deer antlers and found the idea of tacking junk to a toilet cover interesting. Since then, he's crafted designs on hundreds of seats (technically, they're lids) and hopes to get to No.

Many Bible scholars have made a mistake in explaining end time prophecies. They have concluded that in the last days, the Roman Empire will be revived.Because of this, they have looked at the present European alliance of countries to eventually represent the regions to be ruled by the 10 kings seen in Revelation 17 and Daniel 7. In Daniel 2, the kings are represented by the 10 toes of the image in Daniel's vision.
The mentioned mistake has probably occurred because the scholars did not take into account that the fourth kingdom in Daniel 2, refers to the Last days, and not to the Roman Empire. (That came to prominence historically after Alexander the Great's empire.)
This brings up a key point in understanding biblical prophecies, which is: God is not obligated to mention everyone, everywhere and everything when he gives prophecies.

MIAMI, Florida – Peter Odle, owner and managing director of the 76-room Mango Bay Hotel in Barbados, assumed the leadership of the Caribbean Hotel Association as President for the 2006-2008 term. During the closing gala of the 2006 Caribbean Hotel Industry Conference (CHIC), held 28 June, at the Hyatt Regency Miami, outgoing President Berthia Parle, MBE, officially passed the gavel to Odle. In his inaugural speech at the helm of CHA, Odle summed up the essence of his platform as ‘Unity through Consultation and Communication'. “It is clear to me that one of the first steps is that we do all that is necessary to be a more effective leader in regional tourism while strengthening our relationships with other Caribbean tourism partners. Of equal importance, we must also become more responsive to the needs of our members," he said, underscoring the importance of upholding and advancing the diversity and representation that is the core of CHA.

City Meat Markets' early life is simple. Sir Stafford's father, Stafford senior and his grandfather, Sir James, were grocers by trade.

(July 3, 2006) --Two years ago today, Kauai's residents and visitors were astonished by the strange sight of hundreds of melon headed whales in Hanalei Bay, later it was confirmed that the biannual RIMPAC excercise had been testing loud underwater sonar in the war games.Yesterday, Bill Walker, former Coast Guard sonar technician joined others along Kaumuali‘i Highway to protest the use of sonar in the biannual RIMPAC exercises taking place off Hawaiian shores this month.
The Kauai resdient carried an American flag outside the Pacific Missile Range Facility's Independence Day celebration last night.
Scientific data gathered over the world in the past decade shows this type of sonar has been directly associated with repeated occurrences of mass strandings and deaths of whales, dolphins, and other marine species in U.S.

When we asked young readers to tell us all about the main man in their lives for a special Father's Day story, they put pencil and crayon to paper. We received 97 submissions. Most letters were in honor of fathers, but there were also tributes to grandfathers, big brothers, godfathers and uncles.According to kids, the best men in the world cook dinner, play ball in the back yard and explain fractions. They work hard, fix broken things around the house, tell jokes to their sons and dance with their daughters. Most of all, the world's best fathers just spend time with their kids.
Dads are sometimes grumpy and stinky. Dads bandage boo-boos and watch kids' movies. They buy shoes, hand out cash and watch their kids' soccer games. Dads are heroes.
