Ministry concerned over diving deathsNASSAU The Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources has expressed concerned over the incidences of divers suffering from the "bends" or decompression illness that has killed three Family Island fishermen last month.Bahamian fishermen, with an average age of 31 years, comprise about 40 percent of patients suffering from the bends, seen at the Accident and Emergency Department of the Princess Margaret Hospital. The bends is a sometime fatal disorder that is marked by neuralgic pains and paralysis, distress in breathing, and often collapse caused by the release of gas bubbles in tissue upon too rapid decrease in air pressure, after a stay in compressed atmosphere. MIDDAY BUSINESS REPORT: Aquila credit picture improvingKansas City-based Aquila Inc . could see its credit rating improve after a two- or three-week review by Fitch Ratings in Chicago.Fitch said this morning that it put Aquila's long-term credit ratings on its Rating Watch Positive list pending the detailed look at its financial situation. The ratings cover about $2 billion of Aquila's debt. The positive outlook at Fitch follows Aquila's announcement Friday that it had escaped its long-term energy purchase contracts with an Illinois power plant. Aquila paid another company $218 million to take over its obligations under the tolling contracts with Elwood Energy LLC. The 6-year-old contracts had allowed Aquila to sell natural gas to the power plant and required Aquila to buy the electricity produced. Aquila also had to pay even if it didn't tap the plant to produce power.
