Pilot in crash didn't contact Miami air traffic controller, probe finds

A South Carolina pilot who was killed in plane crash north of Fort Pierce a week ago failed to make contact with Miami Air Route Traffic Control Center after taking off from St. Lucie County Airport, according to federal investigators.

In a preliminary report, National Transportation Safety Board investigators said an air traffic control official at the St. Lucie airport told the pilot, Stephen P. Hodges, 57, of Myrtle Beach, who was cleared for takeoff, to make contact with the center in Miami. But there was no record of Hodges attempting to make contact.

Casino Royale - Official Website Report #9

The official Casino Royale website blog has been updated by 'Yarborough.' Coverage this time centers on the intense Madagascar construction site chase scene in the film between Daniel Craig's 007 and Mollaka (played by free-runner Sebastien Foucan).

The site of land in question belongs to Bahamian Ministry of Defence. According to the report, construction of a hotel was set to take place on the site, but it was left unfinished. Thanks to some further work from the James Bond crew, it works perfectly as their construction site location.

According to stunt co-ordinator Gary Powell, Bond fans have been 'swamped over recent years with CGI stuff and I think they are actually getting bored of it now. So to go back to the route of actually doing it for real is definitely more satisfying, and hopefully for the public too ...

From one generation to next

My dad was a great fisherman. When he was in his prime, he traveled to the Arctic Circle for the trip of a lifetime, catching a world record arctic grayling on a Royal Coachman dry fly. He caught bonefish on flies in the Bahamas, and tarpon and snook on streamers in Belize. But the place he loved to fish the most was the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Despite the demands of raising a large family and the pursuit of a successful career in politics, my father still managed regular getaways to pursue trout in the wild rivers of the U.P. Cook's Run, the Ontonagon, the Paint, Duck Creek, The Bluff and Sucker Creek were all good trout spots and he fished them all. Before I was old enough to accompany him on his fishing trips, I remember lying awake at night in the dormer of the log cabin, which was our summer retreat, waiting for him to return.
