Explosive testimony
The murder trial of Ian Knowles opened in the Freeport Supreme Court yesterday with explosive testimony from a prosecution witness who explained why he didn't go to the police on the accused."This man tell me I is the only one he tell this to and if I open my mouth, I'll be next he'll kill me too," Ettiene Cartwright told the court under re-examination.
He was answering Senior Prosecutor Vernal Collie's question as to why, after knowing for weeks who killed Jermaine Thompson, a.k.a. Bobo, he did not go to the police.
It was an answer Defence Attorney Carlson Shurland refused to let the witness reveal after putting it to him several times Tuesday afternoon about having that information and calling himself a law abiding citizen.
In fact, the defence attorney told Cartwright, "I don't need a why you didn't go to police."
Knowles, 33, is accused of the April 2004 murder of Thompson in Abaco.
