Palm Beach County reports no Masilotti meddling on Posse land bid

Disgraced politician Tony Masilotti didn't exercise undue influence over a county land sale in which federal authorities say the former county commissioner had a hidden financial stake, according to a county staff report released Tuesday.

While Masilotti kept a close watch over the sale of a county-owned, 10-acre parcel -- dubbed the Posse property -- to his close friend and campaign contributor, Bruce Rendina, "nothing interfered with the fair and impartial evaluation of the proposals," according the report from the county's property and real estate management director, Ross Hering.

At the same time Masilotti intervened on Rendina's behalf after the bidding ended, the ex-commissioner was taking numerous free plane rides to the Bahamas and elsewhere from Rendina without disclosing the gifts, according to the U.S.

Smith paternity dispute takes another turn

NASSAU, Bahamas, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- The brewing paternity dispute involving U.S. model Anna Nicole Smith's new daughter now involves a sterile real estate mogul.

Real estate magnate Ted Thompson has signed an affidavit in which he claims that the former Playboy model attempted to convince him that he was her daughter's father -- despite the fact he had undergone a vasectomy in the past, said TMZ.com.

Thompson alleges that after he turned down Smith, who he had an affair with last year, the 38-year-old actress eventually had her lawyer, Howard K. Stern, named as the official father of her new child.

In the affidavit, Thompson said Smith had confessed to him that the true father of Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern was actually her former boyfriend, Larry Birkhead -- who has been fighting to be recognized as the father.

Bahamas Realty wins award for best website

A leading international luxury market real estate association has voted Bahamas Realty website number one for 2006, ranking it top in a field of 1,100 members in a competition that included many of the world's most exclusive firms.

The honour, awarded in Chicago during the closing ceremony of the 11th Annual Luxury Real Estate Member-ship Conference, took Bahamas Realty CEO Larry Roberts by surprise.

"To win this award in a global arena in competition with the who's who of luxury real estate brokers and offices, to be singled out in this kind of exclusive high-end market competition, is really quite an honour," said Roberts, a second generation realtor whose father founded the firm in 1949.

Bahamas Realty was first to introduce web marketing as a sales tool for property in The Bahamas.
