The bug is finally dead
Intense fogging throughout Exuma and New Providence has led health officials to believe that the anopheles mosquito, which has been blamed for the recent malaria outbreaks, is dead.The Guardian was advised yesterday by well-placed health sources, that the elimination of the mosquito, which is the carrier of the disease, should not have been a hard thing to do, in light of the fact that the anopheles mosquito is not endemic to The Bahamas.
"This type of mosquito does not live in The Bahamas, so it had to have been brought here. How it was brought here is still unknown though," the source said.
Further, it was revealed that once those infected are isolated and the proper procedures to eliminate such mosquitoes are carried out, the spread of the disease would be contained.
